What should I do with the stimulus check?

I spoke with a colleague who spent the first stimulus check right away and another who used the entire amount to pad her savings account. Money blogs tell you to save pennies and guilt you into skipping your morning coffee. Good financial advice but this is your money. We will not be pushing any specific money advice on you today.

Before continuing this article, I want to take a moment to recognize that not everyone is able to choose how to spend their stimulus check. A lot of people are really struggling right now as expenses grow faster than earnings. Of Dollars and Data writes about poverty and I encourage you to read his work.

There is a lot of uncertainty about the economy, jobs, and whether there will be additional financial support on the way. I am not going to pretend I have those answers and it is probably best to be weary of anyone who does. With that in mind, we will identify questions to ask as you decide where to spend your money but, at the end of the day, it is your decision.
