How It Started
Cards & Conversation started at a family dinner table in Denver, Colorado. We noticed that the best moments with the people we cared about always began with the right question. Not small talk. Not gossip. The kind of question that makes someone pause, think, and share something real.
So we started collecting those questions. We tested them everywhere. With couples on date nights. With families at holiday gatherings. With strangers at events who had nothing in common except curiosity. With coworkers who had sat in the same office for years without ever having a meaningful conversation. With therapy groups, support groups, and classroom settings.
Over six years, we kept the questions that consistently sparked something genuine and discarded the rest. What remained became a deck of 54 casino-quality playing cards, each with five carefully chosen conversation starters on the back.
What We Built
Cards & Conversation is two products in one. It is a full 54-card poker deck with standard suits and values, so you can play any card game you already know. Flip the cards over, and each one has five unique conversation starters ranging from lighthearted and imaginative to deep and thought-provoking. Over 250 questions total.
The five-questions-per-card design is intentional. It means the person holding the card always has options. A child can pick the funny question. A grandparent can pick the reflective one. A colleague at a team lunch can pick the one that feels right for a professional setting. Nobody ever gets stuck with a question that does not fit the moment.

We did not want to make a novelty product that falls apart after a few uses. Every deck is printed on casino-quality playing card stock with a UV coating for smooth shuffling and long-term durability. The inks are non-toxic, sourced from Europe and Japan.
